AEGIS (RYZE Group) secures the contract for the refurbishment of the Tonini-Boninsegna care home for people with disabilities in Brescia
AEGIS, an engineering and architecture firm within the RYZE Group specialising in integrated design and the management of complex infrastructure projects, has completed one of the most significant social and healthcare refurbishment projects undertaken recently in Brescia: the renovation of the historic premises of the care home for people with disabilities run by the G. Tonini-G. Boninsegna Social Cooperative.
As part of the refurbishment project, AEGIS acted as Construction Manager on behalf of A2A Calore e Servizi S.r.l. (General Contractor), overseeing the architectural, structural and services design, site supervision and health and safety coordination during both the design and construction phases, and supported the owner throughout all the authorisation procedures required for the healthcare facility’s accreditation with the Local Health Authority (ATS).
The project involved the entire building on Via Buttafuoco, the cooperative’s headquarters, which accommodates 74 residents with severe disabilities, through major structural reinforcement, energy efficiency improvements and the functional refurbishment of the spaces. The result is a modern, safe and welcoming facility, designed to meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability and care.
Particular attention was paid to the building’s energy performance, thanks to the integration of photovoltaic systems, heat pumps and innovative technological solutions that enable a significant reduction in energy consumption and emissions.
With a total investment of around 15 million euros, the project stands as a concrete example of the regeneration of existing heritage and confirms AEGIS’s ability to lead complex projects of high social value, combining technical expertise, sustainability and a focus on the community’s needs.
More than just a building project, the initiative has brought about a people-centred transformation: more functional, safe and welcoming spaces, designed to promote the well-being, social interaction, dignity and independence of the residents, as well as ensuring better working conditions for staff and an organisation supported by cutting-edge technology.
The inauguration of the new facility, which took place on 19 June – the year marking the Cooperative’s fiftieth anniversary – was attended by representatives from local and regional institutions, families, care workers and representatives from the healthcare sector, marking the start of a new phase for an organisation that has always been a point of reference for the Brescia area.
The Giornale di Brescia has published an in-depth feature on the subject.
