AEGIS Cantarelli + Partners, a RYZE Group company, supported Wood Beton as the engineering firm for the redevelopment and new construction of the new “Benedetta Bianchi Porro” primary school in Sirmione.

AEGIS Cantarelli + Partners was responsible for the architectural design, mechanical and electrical systems design, and safety during the design phase of the final and executive stages of the project. The complex, which resulted from the partial demolition of the existing school and the construction of a new adjacent building, covers approximately 3,000 square meters and houses 18 classrooms for 468 students, laboratories, an open-air theater, a gym, a cafeteria, a library, a teachers' room, and a conference room.

The building was renovated using an innovative construction system that combines prefabricated concrete and wood elements. The choices made were aimed at ensuring high standards of quality and performance in terms of maintainability and durability, as well as aesthetic appeal.

The guiding principle behind the design of the new school building is inspired by bioclimatic techniques, using environmentally friendly materials and technologies necessary to create a building in which the architecture, structure, and systems are perfectly integrated, allowing the new building to blend in with its green surroundings and context, an image that responds to its use and is aesthetically pleasing, and, finally, considerable savings in the management costs of the system as a whole.
