Laura Piantanida, Head of Institutional Relations of the YARD REAAS Group, participated as a speaker at the conference "Drones and Advanced Air Mobility: flying towards the future, between challenges and opportunities" organised by the Drones and Advanced Air Mobility Observatory of Politecnico (Milan), which took place on 28 February 2024.
YARD REAAS conducted an in-depth study on the impact that this new mode of transport will have on the built environment and - speculatively - on the role that the real estate sector will play in the development and integration of the new mobility systems within the ongoing urban transformations, including the rehabilitation and new valorisation of disused areas/buildings.
"The degree of knowledge of the sector still seems preliminary, but most of the operators interviewed expect that in the next 3 to 5 years the real estate sector will be significantly impacted by the development of advanced air mobility, both in terms of freight and passenger transport" declared Laura Piantanida, commenting on the survey results. "Interestingly, with regard to the location of future infrastructure supporting IAM&D (vertiports, charging stations, etc.), the focus is mainly on brownfields, brownfield sites and opportunities offered by urban regeneration projects".
